Be a mentor for the MS1 INTRO Summer Research Program for summer of 2019

The HSC Office of Research and Graduate Education is currently updating their list of mentors for the MS1 INTRO Summer Research Program for summer of 2019. If a faculty member is interested in potentially being a research mentor for a first-year medical student during the summer, please send an updated project title(s) with a one or two sentence description of the project.

This list of mentors and their research projects will be used to help advertise research projects for students to choose when they apply to the program. This listing, once updated, will be published on the website for the students to view. This information is due to Holly Legleiter by November 15th.

About the MS1 INTRO Summer Research Program: The Office of Research and Graduate Education offers paid research positions to a limited number of MS1 students who have completed their first year of medical school over the following summer. The 2019 schedule will be from June 11-August 3, 2019. The Office of Research and Graduate Education, The WV Clinical and Translational Science Institute and the HSC Vice President’s office provides stipend support for these students.

The students are responsible for engaging the PI and discussing possible projects/research plans/ and details with the PI. Once they meet with the PI, they can then submit an application form for the program. This is a competitive program and slots are numbered. The deadline for students to apply to the program will be in March 12, 2019.
