McCawley moderates WV Public Health Association Symposium

On April 27, the West Virginia Public Health Association and RAD (Rural Agricultural Defenders) sponsored a free, day-long event on air pollution and health with a special emphasis on children and other vulnerable groups. Dr. Michael McCawley of the Department of Occupational and Environmental Health Sciences, coordinated the panel discussions and moderated the event.

Nationally recognized experts from Harvard Medical School, the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health, the University of Maryland School of Public Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the MidAtlantic Center for Children’s Health and the Environment and others spoke on air pollution impacts on pregnancy, fetal development, the health of young children, school-aged children and other vulnerable groups across the life span.
