SPH Alumni Leadership Council fall 2018 meeting
The members of the Alumni Leadership Council met at HSC on Friday, October 26, to discuss a variety of topics. The meeting was led by co-chairs John Blosnich, ’11 PhD, MPH, and Emily Jenkins, ’17 MPH, and included one of the School’s first group discussions for the strategic planning process. Members provided feedback and information about their experiences as students and as alumni working the field of public health.
The council split into three separate working groups that focused on proposed alumni awards to recognize fellow alumni as well as current students for their contributions to the School and the field of public health; establishing a career panel to speak to students during orientations and National Public Health Week; and regional alumni events to provide networking opportunities. The regional gatherings will initially focus on the Morgantown and Charleston areas with tentative plans to expand to Clarksburg, Wheeling and Ohio.
Council members also welcomed new members who graduated from the undergraduate program including Natasha McKenzie, ’17 BSPH, Kanna Balducci, ’17 BSPH, Karla Davison, ’18 BSPH, Lauren Gerchufsky, ’17 MPH, Elly Myers, ’18 MPH, Megan Ross, ’18 MPH, and Angela Javurek, ’18 MPH.
