SPH offers Implicit Bias Training - RSVP by March 22
As part of the SPH's renewed focus on diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, the SPH Diversity Task Force has invited Sam Wilmoth from the WVU Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to offer an Implicit Bias workshop to all SPH faculty, staff, and student leaders.
This workshop, derived from Harvard’s Project Implicit, supports our efforts to raise self-awareness and ensure an inclusive institutional climate that values and respects all students, staff and faculty. During this workshop, we will have dialogue in small groups about how to incorporate this topic of awareness into our curriculum, research, practice, service, student affairs, operations and faculty/staff development. Our hope as a committee is that you will make every effort to plan your schedule around attending our inaugural workshop, however, we understand that teaching schedules, deadlines, and workload make this challenging. Please know that we will have a similar training in late May, one during the summer months, and this topic as a focus of mandatory student orientations.
Our first workshop is on a FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS and will be held on Wednesday March 27, 2019 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. in HSN-H 2940B. Boxed lunches will be provided. An RSVP is required in order to assure we have adequate lunch portions for everyone. If you have a special dietary request, please let Tiffany Salamone know when you reserve your seat and meal with her at Tiffany.Salamone@hsc.wvu.edu no later than March 22.
