Two study abroad opportunities for Spring 2019

Two exciting study abroad opportunities are available for Spring 2019 and designed specifically for students in the health sciences. Interested Public Health students should discuss these opportunities with their academic advisor.

This is a brand new online, 3-credit course is being offered in Spring 2019 to junior, senior, pre-graduate school and first-year graduate students in health-related fields.

This innovative course will instruct on the principles of the Blue Zone lifestyles, including the Mediterranean Diet, practices, and their benefits for physical and mental health. Following the completion of this course, we will travel to the Blue Zone of Ikaria, Greece for a 9-day cultural immersion (July 6-15) featuring culinary lessons, olive oil, wine, and cheese production facility tours, beekeeping, and more. The goal of this course is to teach aspiring health professionals the principles Blue Zone lifestyles and empower them to use these guidelines in their future practices.

Also this Spring 2019 semester, we will again be offering an online, 3-credit course on the Mediterranean Diet and lifestyles and the benefits on health and sustainable practices. The course is geared toward junior, senior, pre-graduate school and first-year graduate school students in health-related fields. Following the completion of the course, a 12-day cultural immersion in Tuscany, Italy will be offered from June 9-21 featuring culinary lessons, pasta, ancient grain, and olive oil production facility tours, education on sustainable practices, and more.

In addition, these are research studies. Please note that these are multidisciplinary studies, so participation in this experience is also an opportunity to interact with other future professionals across a spectrum of health disciplines.
