WVU Global Public Health Brigades Spring Break Trip 2019

Interested in studying abroad while gaining some community service hours and a life changing experience? Join the WVU Global Public Health Brigades on a seven-day spring break trip to Honduras from March 9-March 15, 2019.

During the Public Health Brigades, volunteers will develop sustainable health solutions and establish a standard of health quality by emphasizing prevention and education. The Public Health Brigades achieves this goal by implementing in-home infrastructure projects, providing health education, and engaging community members. Each Public Health Brigade will have an opportunity to work with individual families, local schools and community leaders with a focus on holistic and preventive health measures on both an individual and community-wide scale. On this trip, students will also accumulate ~100 hours of community service!

In the next upcoming meeting, the WVU Public Health Brigades plan on going over the cost of the trip, deadlines, fundraising, an agenda for the trip and what we hope to accomplish this spring break. Last spring, we were able to help multiple families and build a water well that supplied over 30 families.

The first meeting is Tuesday, Oct 9 @ 8:00pm in the MSU Blackwater Room in the Lair. If interested or have any questions, please email Fiona Galley at frg0001@mix.wvu.edu.
